SOUTH POINT — The Chesapeake Lady Panthers were certainly not offended by their offense.

The Lady Panthers had three players in double figures as they routed the Greenup County (Ky.) Lady Musketeers 67-45 on Saturday in the South Point Holiday Tournament.

“Offensively, we played well. We passed the ball well and shared it well,” said Chesapeake coach Chris Ball.

“Defensively, we wanted to take away the (Micah) Leslie girl. She had 30 points twice this year. Natalie Hall, Brooke Webb and Baylee Mills did a nice job on Leslie, but we didn’t play good team defense. Greenup is solid so it’s a good win for us.”

Sydnee Hall had 15 points, 10 assists, 7 rebounds and 3 steals to lead the Lady Panthers (4-2). Atiya Spaulding scored 17 points and Kaylee Curry had 14 points and 5 rebounds.

Kelsey Curry added 6 rebounds and Natalie Hall 6 assists for Chesapeake.

Greenup County (4-4) got 14 points from Leslie and 12 from Jordan Moore.

“Sydnee Hall had a nice all-around game. When we broke the pressure, she was able to hit the open man,” said Balls.

Sydnee Hall scored 9 points and Kaylee Curry 8 in the first quarter as Chesapeake raced to a 24-12 lead.

Spaulding had 6 points in the second quarter and the lead was 39-21 at the break.

Leslie got 6 points in the third quarter, but Chesapeake still extended its lead to 55-34 and was never threatened.

Chesapeake hosts its Holiday Tournament on Monday. South Point faces Greenup County at 6 p.m. and Chesapeake meets Lincoln County at 7:30.

On Tuesday, the losers play at noon followed by the championship game at 2 p.m.
