NEW BOSTON — Ah, there’s that second half.

After playing solid in the first half and struggling in the second half all season, the Rock Hill Redwomen put two halves together as they beat the New Boston Lady Tigers 57-41 on Saturday in the New Boston Holiday Tournament.

“It was a good team effort and we finally put a second half together,” said Rock Hill coach Greg Damron.

“Sammi Dillon held (Ali) Hamilton to seven points in the second half. Sammi did a good job on her. Hamilton’s a nice post player. In the fourth quarter we kind of wore them down.”

Kaci Russell scored a game-high 18 points and had 4 assists to lead the Redwomen (3-6). Anna Darby added 11 points and 14 rebounds while Madi Damron scored 10 points including a pair of 3-pointers.

Hamilton scored 16 for New Boston.

New Boston led 15-14 after the first quarter but Rock Hill rallied to go up 26-23 at the half.

The lead was 43-39 after three quarters and then Abbey Kline, Kyleigh Noel, Taylor Hall and Damron all hit 3-pointers in the fourth quarter as Rock Hill outscored New Boston 14-2 to get the easy win.

Rock Hill visits Portsmouth on Monday, Jan. 5.
