ROME TOWNSHIP — Brickhouse Cardio Club at 9267 County Road 107 is having an open house from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 23 for Silver Sneakers classes.

“Silver Sneakers is mostly geared toward seniors,” Angie George, owner, said. “I want to have an open house so that they can come and see what the classes are like.”

The Silver Sneakers program is group fitness classes that help with cardio, flexibility and balance.

“The whole purpose for Silver Sneakers is to keep them independent longer,” she said.

Being in a group setting is another benefit of Silver Sneakers.

“As a senior, sometimes depression can be an issue,” she said. “Being group fitness, it is very social and they will meet new people.”

As a Silver Sneakers member, any class offered at the studio can be taken, she said.

Silver Sneakers is a program offered as part of some supplemental insurance plans. To find out if it is part of a supplemental insurance plan, those interested should call his or her insurance company or George at 304-633-1970.

Silver Sneakers classes are offered at Brickhouse Cardio Club at 10:30 a.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays.
