Coal Grove romps by Calvary, 83-38

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Everyone joined in.

The Coal Grove Hornets had 14 players in the scoring column as they routed the Calvary Christian Cougars 83-38 on Thursday in the Huntington Invitational.

Travis Carey had 15 points and Brandon Adkins scored 13 to lead the Hornets. Daniel Rutherford added 9 points off the bench.

Carson Taylor scored 15 and Casey James 10 for Calvary.

Adkins scored 7 points and Jonathon Joseph scored 5 more as Coal Grove took a 20-6 first quarter lead.

Seven players scored in the second quarter as the Hornets extended their lead to 36-14 at the half.

Carey got the hot hand in the third quarter with 13 points including a pair of 3-pointers and Jake Myers hit two triples off the bench as Coal Grove opened up an insurmountable 62-31 lead.

Rutherford scored 7 of his points and Jordan Lucas had all 7 of his points in the fourth quarter as the Hornets outscored the Cougars 21-7.

Coal Grove visits Rock Hill next Friday.
