In most cases, grief resulting from the loss of a loved one or friend can be a very challenging time.

One thing that is certain is how a person deals with that loss can differ from person to person.

That is the goal of the grief counseling being offered this month through Community Hospice in Ashland. This offering can be an essential outlet for those in our community who may be dealing with a loss.

While some choose to deal with their emotions in those ways, the ability to speak with others who are in a similar situation can be an asset that may ultimately help.

According to the American Psychology Association’s website, the following are tips that can help those recovering from a loss of a friend or loved one:

• Talk about the death of your loved one;

• Accept your feelings;

• Take care of yourself and your family;

• Reach out and help others dealing with the loss;

•Remember to celebrate the lives of your loved ones.

We commend those organizations that work to help others overcome obstacles.

Whether it is a need to kick an addiction or overcoming the loss of a friend or family member, these outlets are valued assets to our county and region.
