City budget main point for Ironton Council meeting

The first reading of the new city budget will be the main topic at the Ironton City Council meeting tonight at the Council chambers in the city center at 6 p.m.

Ordinance 15-08 adopts the permanent annual operating budget for the city of Ironton for the fiscal year ending Dec. 31, 2015 and declaring an emergency.

“The general fund for the budget is between $5.5 and 5.8 million,” Mayor Rich Blankenship, said. “I think we worked hard on the budget and I’m hoping that it will pass.”

Resolution 15-07, authorizing the transfers and indirect cost reimbursements as adopted by the 2015 annual budget appropriation ordinance and declaring an emergency and Resolution 15-09, fixing the number and compensation of certain employees of the city of Ironton and declaring an emergency are also on the agenda.

Prior to the regular city council meeting there will be a Public Utilities Commission meeting at 5:30 p.m.
