Ashland Youth Ballet will join with OU dance concert tour

ASHLAND, Ky. — The Ashland Youth ballet is beginning the spring season with a full schedule. The spring concert is underway as the dancers from Ashland Youth Ballet will join forces with Ohio University Department of Dance Senior Concert Tour.

The show will be titled “Furry Tales,” an adaption of the beloved tales of Peter Rabbit. Ashland Youth Ballet will also perform a dance piece choreographed by Nathan Audary, a professor at Ohio University and former dancer in the youth ballet.

The concert will take place at 7 p.m. on April 6 in the Paramount Art Center. Ticket sales will begin March 9 at the Paramount Art Center Box Office. The box office can be reached at 606-324-0007.

The Ashland Youth Ballet will take the stage during the first act of the spring concert and the second act will consist of the senior concert tour. All senior dance majors will present their final choreography. The pieces will be modern contemporary that will vary from solos to group performances.

The Ashland Youth Ballet is beginning its search for new dancers to join for the 2015-2016 season. Auditions for new dancers will take place on April 25.

New dancers will get the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to dance alongside instructors from the Moscow Ballet. Sixty-four dancers will audition to take the stage with the international stars of the Moscow Ballet.

More details about the audition will be released in May.
