Board of DD needs our support

Let the madness begin. That is always the case for the NCAA men’s and women’s basketball tournaments and the Lawrence County Board of Developmental Disabilities during the month of March.

While most have heard about those college basketball tournaments, locally, the Lawrence County Board of Developmental Disabilities hosts several events throughout March that help bring awareness and funding for the organizations programs.

Although funds are crucial to the board’s ability to maintain its programs, knowledge and community involvement relating to these programs are equally important.

Many of these occasions have become annual traditions, and this year is no different. The events for 2015 include a 5K Run/Walk for Developmental Disabilities at The Point in South Point on March 7, chili fest and craft show on March 14 and a basketball game on March 24 both being held at Dawson-Bryant High School.

We encourage all those who can attend or even participate in the LCBDD’s events and many other worthy groups throughout the county will be beneficial for both the community and organizations.

Ultimately, awareness and raising money are essential elements, but seeing the community come together with their support is what Lawrence County is all about.
