Troopers from the Ironton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol were dispatched to the scene of a fatal crash at about 12:30 p.m. today on State Route 93.

Preliminary investigation shows that a vehicle, driven by Destin L. Sark, 19, of Pedro, was northbound on State Route 93 near mile post 19, when it went off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree. Sark, who was the only occupant, suffered fatal injuries despite the use of his seat belt.

He was pronounced deceased at the scene by a representative from the Lawrence County Coroner’s Office.

Troopers were assisted on the scene by volunteers from the Elizabeth Township Fire Department and the Decatur Township Fire Department.

The crash remains under investigation.
