As of right now, there is not much activity as far as the upcoming mayor elections go in South Point, Chesapeake and Proctorville. Current mayors Dick Gilpin, of Chesapeake, Ron West, of South Point and Rick Dunfee of Proctorville all said that they haven’t yet decided if they are going to run again for sure.

“It depends on my health, but at this point I will probably run,” Gilpin said. “I don’t usually make that decision until mid-summer.”

West said he hasn’t made up his mind and that it depends on his wife’s health. Dunfee picked up his petition from the Lawrence County Board of Elections, but hasn’t filed yet.
