PROCTORVILLE — It was shaping up to be a matchup of two good offenses.

Unfortunately, four errors by the Fairland defense changed the script as the Gallipolis Blue Devils beat the Dragons 10-4 on Tuesday in a non-league game.

“We hit it well and we hit some balls right at them that they turned into double plays that got them out of some jams,” said Fairland coach Bryan Ward. “But they’re pretty good. They hit the ball well, too.”

Fialrand (0-2) had eight hits led by Collin Damron who was 3-for-4 and Jonah Galloway who went 2-3 with a double and had a run batted in.

Seth Clay was 1-2 with a double and an RBI for the Dragons while Robert Thompson went 1-2 and Dylan Murphy 1-3 with an RBI.

Gallipolis collected 11 hits against three Fairland pitchers.

Seth Willis was 3-4, Anthony Sipple 2-4 and Clay Smith 1-2 with a double.

Marcus Moore went six innings to get the win. Sipple came on in the seventh inning to choke off a three-run rally by the Dragons.

Gallipolis took a 3-0 lead in the first inning and added two runs in the second inning to lead 5-0.

Fairland got a run back in the third inning, but the Blue Devils erupted for four runs in the fourth inning and it was 9-1.

Fairland visits South Point on Friday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
