Author Larry Finley, of Flatwoods, Kentucky, will sign his newly published book, “On the Cumberland,” at the Briggs Lawrence County Library Ironton branch from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday

Finley said the book takes place in the 1800s and is about the adventures of a 10-year-old boy who runs away because he is not happy with his family life.

“I’ve been writing for about seven years, but this is the first book that I’ve had published,” Finley said. “I have six other novels and a book of short stories done that I’m waiting to see what happens with. All of my novels are completely made up.”

“On the Cumberland” was published by Tate Publishing of Oklahoma and is available or will be available soon at Barnes and Noble, Amazon, Sam’s Club and Costco, Finley said. He will also have about 100 copies available for purchase at the book signing.

“Everyone that I’ve talked to that’s read it has liked it,” Finley said. “I’m trying to get my book established and move it around to as many states as I can. My idea is to get well known, but I just need the exposure.”
