Lowell Ash

Lowell Thomas Ash, 75, of Ironton, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2015, at the St. Mary’s Medical Center-Ironton Campus. The Wilgus native was born Nov. 21, 1939, a son of the late Marion and Avie Justice Ash. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Linda Capper Ash, whom he married Dec. 30, 1961.

Mr. Ash was a U.S. Army veteran serving from 1963-1965. He was a graduate of Waterloo High School and a bus driver for the Rock Hill School District. He was also a former employee for the Semet Solvay Plant in Ironton.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Paul (Gail) Ash; a sister, Helena (Ralph) Hogston; and a sister-in-law, Joann (Donavon) Haskins.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sisters, Treva (Bill) Morris of Wilgus and Doris (Ed) Williams of Columbus; a sister-in-law, Carla (Bill) Morris of Kitts Hill; a brother-in-law, Gary (Peggy) Capper of Willow Wood; and numerous nieces and nephews

Funeral services will be at noon Wednesday at the Perkins Ridge Missionary Baptist Church with pastor Donnie Massie officiating. Burial will follow in Perkins Ridge Cemetery and visitation will be Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Larry Pennington

Larry Ray Pennington, 54, of Ironton, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2015. The Lawrence County native was born Oct. 24, 1960, the son of the late Lawrence and Carol Mart Pennington and special grandmother, Dorthy Mart.

He is survived by longtime companion, Teresa Walburn; two daughters, Amy Pennington and Heather Pennington, both of Ironton; a son, Larry “Travis” (Katie) Pennington, of Ironton; and granddaughters, Kassidy and MeKenzie Pennington.

Helen Hartwig

Helen Marie Hartwig, 85, of Ironton, passed away, Sunday, April 19, 2015, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland. The Ironton native was born Aug. 2, 1929, a daughter to the late Carl and Ida Faye Callicoat Dement. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth L. Hartwig, who passed away Feb. 21, 2010.

Mrs. Hartwig was a 1947 graduate of Windsor High School and a homemaker. She was a member of the Bald Knob United Brethern Church, where she was in the Ladies Aid Group. She was also on the council and was an adviser of the 4-H Club for 22 years.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Kathleen Humphrey. She is survived by two daughters, Karen (Fred) Winters of Ironton, and Suzie (Joel) Baker of Asheville, North Carolina; a son, Kent Hartwig and Tammy Aldrich of Wellington, Florida; four grandchildren, Christopher Winters and Karen Davis of Chesapeake, Robin (Brian) Baker Gilchrest of Duncan , South Carolina, Kevin Winters of Ironton, and Heidi Hartwig of Wisconsin; four great-grandchildren, Hank Gilchrest, Chandler Winters, Elaine Marie Gilchrest and Zachary Gilchrest; and several nieces and nephews

Funeral services will be at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with pastor James Kearns officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery and visitation will be Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service Thursday. Robert Morris

Robert Glen Morris, 74, of Chesapeake, died Monday, April 20, 2015, at Cornerstone Hospital, Huntington, West Virginia. He is survived by his wife, Betty Carol Bledsoe Morris. Arrangements are pending at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory in Proctorville.

Betty Jane Sexton, 84, of South Point, died Monday, April 20, 2015, at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Arrangements are pending at Hall Funeral Home.

 

James Blackwell

James W. Blackwell, 55, of Franklin Furnace, died Sunday, April 19, 2915, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. He will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Chapel in Ironton.

 

 

Linda Lou Kuhn

Linda Lou Kuhn, 77, of Proctorville, died Sunday, April 19, 2015, at Wyngate at Rivers Edge, Proctorville. She is survived by her husband, Willard Kuhn Jr. Funeral service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory in Proctorville by Denver Majher.
