Lady Dragons romp, 17-5

PROCTORVILLE — The Fairland Lady Dragons got things over with in a hurry.

Fairland scored 13 runs in the first inning en route to a 17-5 Ohio Valley Conference win over the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers on Wednesday.

“We played better tonight. Mackenzie Riley and Morgan Fridley both played really well,” said Fairland coach Mindy Clark.

Riley finished the game 2-4 with a double, a home run and five runs batted in. Fridley was 3-4 with a double and three RBI, Caitlin Stone was 3-4 with an RBI while Mollie Morris was 2-3 with a double.

Fairland (5-6, 1-4) collected 10 hits.

Ironton had nine hits with Aley Carmon going 2-3 with a home run and two RBI. Kylee Metzger was 2-2, Kenzie Cremeens 2-4 and Katie Burcham 1-2 with a double.

Ironton got a run in the top of the first inning but Fairland erupted in the bottom of the inning.

The Lady Dragons had six hits, three walks, three errors and a hit batsman to generate the big inning.

Riley had a double and three-run homer to highlight the offensive explosion. Morris and Fridley also had RBI doubles in the inning.

Fairland visits Rock Hill on Thursday.
