Free Comic Book Day is Saturday, May 2

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Comic World in Huntington is one of thousands of comic book shops around the world celebrating Free Comic Book Day on, Saturday, May 2.

On Free Comic Book Day, more than 5.6 million comic books will be given away by participating stores.

“The wide array of comic books being published today ensures that readers of all ages — children, teens, and adults — can find something appropriate that will stir their imaginations,” said Kathleen Miller, owner of Comic World. “Even if you have never picked up a comic book, stop into Comic World because you never know what you will end up finding. We at Comic World want to spread the word that comics are perfect for today’s times. Comic books and graphic novels are considered a hot form of entertainment, that are fun and a smart pick for readers to dive into as imagination comes to life with the turn of every page.”

This year, Comic World is celebrating 35 years and every single comic book and trade paperback in stock will be 20 percent off on Free Comic Book Day.

Comic World will also host its annual costume contest with prizes and trophies. Come dressed as your favorite superhero, super villain or your own character.

Along with all the free comics and goodies, Comic World will also give away five $25 Comic World gift certificates.

Kathleen Miller, also known as the Comic Book Lady, has been selling comics at her shop since April 5, 1980, and is one of the only women in the world to have sold over a million individual comics.
