CHESAPEAKE — Seven is the lucky number in this series.

The Rock Hill Redwomen beat the Chesapeake Lady Panthers on Monday by the identical 7-0 score for the second time this season to remain unbeaten.

With the win Rock Hill remained unbeaten at 18-0 and 8-0 in the Ohio Valley Conference.

Jill Hairston pitched a five-hitter for Rock Hill and the offense had 10 hits as Brooklynn Kingrey went 2-for-3 and Makenzi Harrah 2-4.

Chesapeake fell to 5-9 and 1-5.

“We just aren’t hitting the ball. We need to make better contact,” said Chesapeake coach Aaron Rice. “But give them credit. Hairston threw strikes and they played good defense.”

Rock Hill got a run in the second when Harrah singled, took third on a sacrifice bunt and scored on a throwing error.

The Redwomen got a run in the fifth as Kingrey singled, moved up on a sacrifice and scored on a double by Alexis Brammer.

Rock Hill made it 4-0 in the sixth.

Jenna Lane walked, moved up on a sacrifice, and Harrah singled her home. Harrah took second on the throw home and scored on Kingrey’s hit.

With two outs, Rock Hill scored three more runs in the seventh.

Kaci Russell bunted for a hit, Lane singled, Hairston singled them home and she scored on an error.
