Alleged drug traffickers answer charges

Various Michigan men arrested for drug trafficking answered the charges against them Wednesday in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court.

Dwight J. Torry, 37, of 14602 Fordham St., Detroit, was arraigned on one fourth and two third-degree counts of trafficking in heroin, as well as a fifth-degree count of possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drugs, to which he pleaded not guilty.

Judge D. Scott Bowling set bond at $50,000 cash or surety plus $50,000 own-recognizance and GPS monitoring.

Nathaniel Clark, 26, of 13126 Prospect, Warren, was arraigned on three charges of complicity to trafficking in heroin and complicity to possession of a controlled substance and possession of drugs, to which he pleaded not guilty.

Bowling set bond at $50,000 cash or surety plus $50,000 OR and GPS monitoring.

Pretrials for Torry and Clark were set for May. 13.

Marquies Bell, 18, of 121406 Maiden St., Detroit, was arraigned on a third-degree count of trafficking in heroin, to which he pleaded not guilty.

Bowling set bond at $20,000 cash or surety plus GPS monitoring. A pretrial was set for May 13.

In other cases:

• Craig Smith, 45, of 123 Township Road 1057, Proctorville, was arraigned on a fourth-degree count of assault on a peace officer, to which he pleaded guilty.

Bowling set bond at $10,000 OR plus GPS and set sentencing for May 13.

• Ashley Murphy, 33, of 82 Township Road 1088, Proctorville, pleaded guilty to two fifth-degree counts of trafficking in drugs. Bowling ordered a presentence investigation and set sentencing for May 13.

• Heather Baker, 31, of 3304 Crane Ave., Huntington, pleaded guilty to two counts of fifth-degree trafficking in drugs. Bowling ordered a PSI and set sentencing for May 6.

• Darnell Wise, 34, of 31 Private Drive 8700, Proctorville, was arraigned on a fifth-degree count of forgery, to which he pleaded not guilty. Bond was set at $20,000 OR and a pretrial was set for May 13.

• Marla Laber, 38, of 5236 County Road 5, Ironton, was sentenced to four years community control sanctions under intensive supervised probation for counts of failure to appear and possession of drugs, to which she previously pleaded guilty.

Bowling also ordered the woman to attend drug treatment at Mended Reeds, 200 hours of community service, pay a $1,250 fine and her driver’s license was suspended for six months.

• Melanie Hadden, 30, of 624 Tenth St., Huntington, admitted CCS violations and was sentenced to 12 months in prison.

• Marc Bond, 40, of 415 Maple Ave., Ironton, admitted CCS violations and was sentenced to three months in prison.
