Senior citizens of Lawrence County will be able to get together for activities, games, prizes and more at this year’s Lawrence County Senior Citizen Day Tuesday, May 19 at the county fairgrounds barn.

“Darlene Green had a senior citizen day three or four years ago and it had about 300 seniors and several vendors,” Mary Cogan, member of the Lawrence County Senior Citizens Organization, said. “We decided we were going to have one this year, but it was very late in the year.”

Green is the director of the Lawrence County Senior Citizens Organization and started the group to do more things for seniors in the county, Cogan said. The day will include live music, a car display, health screenings, cornhole, pet adoption, bingo, senior care exhibits, gardening talks, Good News Llamas, free men’s haircuts, free manicures, Mary Kay makeovers, vendors, door prizes and more. Free coffee, pastries, lunch and parking will be available.

“Everything will be free and it will just be really cool,” Cogan said. “We’re looking forward to the seniors having a good time.”
