COLUMBUS — They ran neck and neck all season. It was only fitting they were together at the biggest meet of the year.

Rock Hill junior Seth Miller and South Point senior Tyler Mathes ran together once again at the Ohio High School Athletic Association Division II state track meet on Saturday at the Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.

Miller finished 12th overall and Mathes was right behind him at No. 13 in the 3200-meter run.

Miller ran his way to a 12th place finish in the Division II state track and field meet held Saturday at the Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.

Miller had a clocking of 9:55.48. It was Miller’s first trip to the state track meet after advancing to the state cross country meet last fall.

Mathes was also making his state tournament debut as he ran a 9:57.89 time.

Both ran faster times than at last week’s regional meet when Miller was second (9:56.61) and Mathes was fourth (9:58.74).

Miller ran a 9:52.07 in the district meet to set a new record.

Ben Stites of Cincinnati Wyoming ran a 9:25.09 to win the event.
