Bands, bikers, vendors are gearing up for Rally

The start of August means the Friends of Ironton-hosted Rally on the River is just around the corner.

This year the event will be Aug. 13-16 and features a plethora of activities, food and merchandise vendors and bands that will perform on the main stage and in the Ro-Na.

“Each day starts with a bikers breakfast at Peddler’s at 8 a.m.,” Suzie Hamlin with the Friends of Ironton, said. “Vendors will open at 11 a.m.”

Bands set to perform during the rally include Bobaflex, Pop Evil, Creedence Clearwater Revival tribute band “Green River,” Ray Scott, Metallica tribute band “Four Horsemen”, Hell Yeah, Executive Chef, Derailed, Shane Runyon, Earthquakes, Tuck Pence and the four Battle of the Bands winners, Down in Round 3, Tailgate, Vengenz and Hye Water.

Events that weekend include the Ives Brothers Wall of Death on Thursday and Friday at 3 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m., a car show Friday with registration at 4:30 p.m. and the show starting at 6 p.m. and Saturday with registration beginning at 5 p.m. and the show at 6 p.m. at Ironton Hills Plaza; and a Saturday afternoon parade of heroes, which will begin at 5:30 p.m. at Ironton Hills Plaza and end at 6 at the main stage with a military tribute. There will be a Swimsuit USA Model search at 9 p.m. Friday with finals Saturday at 9 p.m., a poker run at noon on Saturday, a bike show from noon-3 p.m. on Sunday with registration from 10 a.m.-noon; motorcycle field events Saturday at 4 p.m. in the parking lot at Third and Washington streets; a Budweiser brewmaster trailer tour to show how beer is made with tours Thursday from 5-10 p.m., Friday from 5-11 p.m. and Saturday beginning at 9:30 a.m. and a service at the First Nazarene Church Sunday at 10:30.

Tickets are $15 each day or $20 for the entire weekend. Admission on Sunday is free.

There is also a pre-rally party scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 12 at 7 p.m. in the Ro-Na. Tickets for the pre-party are $15 each and bands performing at the pre-party are “Like a Storm” and “Waiting on Aaron.”

The rally will be open from 11 a.m.-1 a.m. Thursday through Saturday and 11 a.m.-6 p.m. on Sunday.

Sponsors for the rally include Budweiser, Coca-Cola, Frank Hager Insurance, Select-A-Vapor and Summit RV.
