Lady Pointers, Lady Vikings get volleyball wins

SOUTH POINT — Serve’s up.

The South Point Lady Pointers had a strong night serving as they beat the Coal Grove Lady Hornets in an Ohio Valley Conference volleyball game on Thursday.

South Point won the game in straight sets, 25-10, 25-6 and 25-23.

Mackenzie Fugitt had 14 points including 7 aces, Madison Kearns 10 points with 4 aces, and Selena Marcum 5 aces among her 9 points.

Fugitt also had 7 kills and led the defense with 6 digs.

In the reserve match, the Lady Pointers won in two sets 28-26, 25-14

South Point visits Russell, Ky., on Monday.

Symmes Valley sweeps Green

WILLOW WOOD — The Symmes Valley Lady Vikings cruised to a Southern Ohio Conference volleyball win on Thursday in straight sets.

The Lady Vikings won 25-11, 25-11 and 25-16.

Payton Walsh had 18 points and Tarah Ferguson 11 to lead the offense.

Taylor Webb pounded out 11 kills and Jensyn Shepherd had 8 kills.
