PORTSMOUTH — It was supposed to be a neutral site, but the St. Joseph Flyers made themselves right at home.

Playing at Shawnee State University, the Flyers rolled past the Piketon Red Streaks on Saturday in a soccer game.

“The boys were excited to play on Shawnee State’s field. It’s an excellent facility. They were pumped and it showed,” said Flyers’ coach Mike Balestra.

“It was a good team effort. They played hard, smart and together. They played as one.”

Peyton Adkins was the catalyst for the Flyers with four goals and an assist. Also scoring goals for the Flyers were Isaac Whaley, Judge Williams, Tyler Ward and Clay Willis.

Alexander Ward, Blake Balestra, Ward and Willis all had an assist while Dylan Arrington had two assists.

Goalie Joey Bush had five saves.

The Flyers racked up five goals in the first half to lead 5-0.

Williams and Adkins had goals to start the second half before Piketon scored on a penalty kick.
