Holiday scavenger hunt sponsored by Ironton aLive

Forget the Elf on the Shelf. One of Santa’s helpers has gone rogue and he’s hiding in the businesses of downtown Ironton.

Ironton aLive is having a scavenger hunt through Dec. 19 in which the organization is hiding a small wooden elf in a different downtown business each day.

Each day by 10 a.m. a clue will be posted about the elf’s location at the farmers market and online on the Facebook pages of Ironton aLive and Christmas aLive.

“We want to give everyone a chance to find the elf,” said Ginger Gillenwater, chairwoman of Ironton aLive.

The first person to find the elf will get a special gift from the business as well as a raffle ticket that will be entered into a drawing for Ironton Bucks prizes of $100 and $50. All others who find the elf will also be entered into the drawing.

“This allows people who are searching for the elf to go into the downtown businesses,” Gillenwater said.

Gillenwater also said there will be more chances to find the elf on Dec. 5, 12 and 19 at the Ironton City Center during some special holiday events.

On Dec. 5, Campbell Chapel Choir will perform and on Dec. 12 the Ironton High School Varsity Singers will perform. Both concerts start at 6:30 p.m. and there will be hot chocolate.

Also on Dec. 5, Ironton aLive will have its drawing for the passport contest that was offered on Small Business Saturday.

On Dec. 19, Coal Grove Pharmacy will host a special event will more details to be announced.

The drawings for the Ironton Bucks will be Dec. 19
