CHESAPEAKE — The Sybene/Chesapeake Senior Center is giving a hand back.

Volunteers have collected more than 150 pairs of gloves for the holiday season, which will be donated to underprivileged children at local schools, Darlene Green the center’s director said.

The center is located in a building owned by the Chesapeake school system, and Greene said this is a way of returning to favor.

Volunteers collected the gloves over the past week and hung them in the center, with the full amount on display Monday.

Lorene Plybon, a volunteer and member of the center’s board, also said the center wanted to something in return.

“”We had so much help,” she said. “It’s like giving a pair of hands back.”

The gloves will hang in the senior center until Dec. 16, at which point they will be donated to the schools.
