FRANKLIN FURNACE — When Symmes Valley coach Donnie Saunders hopes for a moving experience, he’s not talking about something emotional.

Saunders wanted his Vikings to keep moving and they did just that as they forced 17 turnovers and registered 21 assists in a 75-49 Southern Ohio Conference win on Friday over the Green Bobcats.

“We picked up the ‘D’ and that helped us pied up the scoring. When you don’t stand around, it helps,” said Vikings’ coach Donnie Saunders.

“Everyone was touching the ball. Playing man defense got us moving.”

Jarod Sheppard had 14 points and 7 rebounds while Shawn Belville scored 14 points as the Vikings went to 2-3 and 1-1 in the SOC. Symmes Valley had 10 different players score.

Aaron Johnson scored 14 points and Tanner Kimbler 10 for Green.

Belville scored 8 points in the first quarter to offset 6 by Johnson as the Vikings took a 17-15 lead.

Chayden Renfroe came off the bench to score 6 points and Sheppard added 5 points in the second quarter as Symmes Valley opened up a 40-27 lead at the half.

Green was held to just 5 points in the third quarter — Sheppard scored 5 points himself — and the Vikings blew the game open with a 57-32 cushion.

The Vikings played at Buffalo, W.Va., on Saturday.
