Huntington Calligrapher’s Guild art exhibit at SSU

PORTSMOUTH — Shawnee State University’s Clark Memorial Library is hosting an exhibit of calligraphic art produced by the members of the Huntington Calligrapher’s Guild through Feb. 5 in celebration of the guild’s 30th anniversary.

The display presents a range of different calligraphy styles rendered with various pens and inks to create artwork from different medias such as paper, fabric, watercolors, illuminations and three-dimensional mixed media.

After leaving the Clark Memorial Library, the exhibit will travel to the Portsmouth Public Library where it will be displayed from February 8 through the 26.

The Huntington Calligrapher’s Guild is a group of artists with a passion for the art of calligraphy. Some of their goals and objectives are to practice the art and techniques of beautiful writing, to gather and share information and ideas about the art of calligraphy, and to increase public awareness of calligraphy as an art form. The guild meets on the third Friday of every month at the Huntington Museum of Art, Studio 2, at 6:30 p.m.
