PORTSMOUTH — The Rock Hill Redwomen went into Monday’s game with the goal of winning. They came out of the game with two goals accomplished.

The Redwomen reached goal one with a 64-48 Ohio Valley Conference win over the Portsmouth Lady Trojans and in the process reached a pre-season goal of a winning season.

Rock Hill is now 12-6 overall and 7-5 in the OVC. It is the first winning season for the Redwomen since 2004.

“(A winning season) was one of our goals and the girls were pumped. I was happy for them and I’m proud of them. It’s nice to send the seniors out with a winning season,” said Rock Hill coach Greg Damron.

Keying the win was senior Kaci Russell who posted a rare triple-double with 24 points, 10 rebounds and 10 steals.

Anna Darby had a big game with 20 points and 19 rebounds and Sami Dillon added 11 rebounds.

“Portsmouth played hard but we controlled the boards and that helped us a bunch. It was hard physical game. We learned how to play in a physical ball game.,” said Damron.

“Russell was all over the place tonight. And Taylor Hall played one of her better games. She played very solid.”

Wesleigh Jackson made six 3-pointers and scored 20 points to lead Portsmouth (2-16, 1-11).

Russell scored nine points and Hall and Darby combined for nine points in the first quarter as Rock Hill took an 18-12 lead.

Russell got seven more points in the second quarter as Rock Hill extended its lead to 35-23 at the half.

Darby scored six points in third quarter and the lead was 49-35.

Russell had six points in the fourth quarter before Damron emptied his bench.

Jackson made three 3-pointers in the quarter for Portsmouth.
