Huntington, W.Va. — Mountwest Community and Technical College will host a free Substance Abuse Prevention Lunch and Learn on Thursday, Feb. 25.

The event will focus on how drug addiction impacts families, exploring strategies, coping skills and what the community can do to combat the issue. Speakers include Gina Broce, Stacy Broce, Marlee Gilmore, Christin Hughes and Durand Warren.

“Last semester we had a great response from the community when we hosted the Substance Abuse Prevention Lunch and Learn addressing the heroin epidemic in the Huntington region,” said Dr. Candace Layne, instructional specialist and mental health counselor at Mountwest. “The reality of drug addiction is that it impacts far more than the user, so as a continuation of the conversation, during this Lunch and Learn we want to focus on the families feeling the effects of drug addiction and discuss ways we as a community can support those affected.”
