Junior Flyers bounce

The St. Joseph Junior Flyers opened the annual middle school Catholic Tournament with a win over the Huntington St. Joseph Fighting Irish, 40-28.

Zach Roach led the Junior Flyers with a game-high 21 points. Jimmy Mahlmeister added six points to the winning effort.

St. Joseph played Our Lady of Fatima on Saturday in the championship game.

The tournament is held each year during Catholic Schools’ Week and includes the Catholic schools from Ironton, Portsmouth and Huntington, W.Va.
