Defendants enter pleas in CP court

A man accused of intentionally using his car to run into another car was arraigned Wednesday in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court.

Robert Hamlin Jr., 33, of 6256 County Road 1, South Point, pleaded not guilty to two charges of second-degree felonious assault.

According to the indictment, which was filed in November, the incident happened on Sept. 28 and Hamlin allegedly used his car as a deadly weapon. Two victims are named in the indictment.

Judge Charles Cooper set bond at $50,000 own-recognizance plus house arrest. A pretrial was set for March 9.

In other cases:

• Darnell Lisath, 41, of 2314 Margaruite St., Ashland, pleaded guilty to a third-degree count of trafficking in marijuana. Cooper set sentencing for March 2.

• Richard Smith, 61, of 618 N. Sixth St., Ironton, pleaded guilty to a third-degree count of trafficking in drugs. Cooper set sentencing for Feb. 17 and set bond at $25,000 OR plus GPS monitoring.

• Todd McCann, 42, of 657 County Road 119, Ironton, was arraigned on a third-degree count of tampering with evidence and a misdemeanor count of inducing panic, to which he pleaded not guilty. Cooper set bond at $5,000 surety and $25,000 OR.

• Tina Carman, 51, of 229 Township Road 1080, Waterloo, pleaded guilty to a third-degree count of illegal conveyance of drugs into a detention facility. Cooper set sentencing for March 9.

• Cody McDonald, 22, of 19 Township Road 31, Chesapeake, pleaded guilty to counts of second-degree felonious assault and misdemeanor assault. Cooper sentenced the man to four years in prison.

• Wanda Fortner, 50, of 144 Township Road 615, South Point, was sentenced to four years community control sanctions under intensive supervised probation and STAR. She previously pleaded guilty to a fourth-degree count of trafficking in drugs. Cooper also suspended the woman’s driver’s license for six months.

• Michael Russell, 21, of 304 Fourth Ave., Chesapeake, was sentenced to four years CCS/ISP and STAR. He previously pleaded guilty to two fifth-degree counts of trafficking in heroin. Cooper also suspended the man’s driver’s license for six months.

• Heather Henry, 29, of 860 County Road 18, South Point, pleaded guilty to one fourth- and two third-degree counts of trafficking in drugs. Judge D. Scott Bowling set sentencing for Feb. 24.

• Richard Snodgrass, 28, of 151 Private Road 80, South Point, admitted to CCS violations and was sentenced to 60 days in prison.

• Jonathan Gragg, 35, of 391 Jacob’s, South Shore, Kentucky, admitted CCS violations and was sentenced to 60 days in prison.

• Kimberly Duncan, 37, of 453 Pine Hill Estates Road, Kenova, West Virginia, was arraigned on a fourth-degree count of failure to appear, to which she pleaded not guilty. Bowling set bond at $10,000 OR and set a pretrial for Feb. 17.

• Jimmy Holbrook, 35, of Branchland, West Virginia, was arraigned on a count of fourth-degree possession of heroin and misdemeanor counts of theft and possession of drug abuse instruments, to which he pleaded not guilty. Bowling set bond at $7,500 cash or surety plus OR and set a pretrial for March 16.

• Eric Lezu, 48, of 523 Richmond St., Huntington, admitted CCS violations and was sentenced to five months in prison.

• Christian Laramore, 28, of 396 Township Road 247, Kitts Hill, pleaded guilty to a fifth-degree count of possession of a controlled substance. Bowling set bond at $10,000 OR and set sentencing for Feb. 17.

• Dean Fields, 28, of 637 Township Road 1156, Chesapeake, admitted CCS violations and was sentenced to 60 days in prison.

• Kristin Burton, 42, of 1524 Beech St., Kenova, West Virginia, was arraigned on a fifth-degree count of theft, to which she pleaded not guilty. Bowling set bond at $5,000 surety and OR. A pretrial was set for Feb. 24.
