Alice Pruitt

Nov. 15, 1946 — March 25, 2016

Alice Faye Withrow Pruitt, 69, of Worthington, Kentucky, died Friday, March 25, 2016, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital. She was born Nov. 15, 1946, in Ashland the daughter of the late Roy M. and Fannie Moore Withrow.

She was a homemaker and attended Ironville Baptist Fundamental Church. She was a member of the Ashland Eagles Club, American Legion Post 76, Ironton Moose Lodge 701 and Ironton VFW Post 8850.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Paul Kinney Pruitt; daughter, Paula Kathleen Pruitt; two brothers, Harold R. Thompson and Joe Thompson; and niece, Rita Ann Hollen.

She is survived by a sister, Wilma Jean Withrow, of Flatwoods, Kentucky; lifelong friend, Roberta Jean Adams, of Ashland, Kentucky; special friend, Charles Beasley, of Ironton; family friend, Rhonda Loos, of Raceland, Kentucky; and her cat, Augustas.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday at Rose Hill Mausoleum with Bro. Thorney Artrip officiating. Entombment will follow in Rose Hill Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the mausoleum. Miller Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Joyce Craft

June 20, 1939 — March 23, 2016

Joyce Ann (Moore) Craft, 76, of South Point, passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at her residence, surrounded by her family. Mrs. Craft was born June 20, 1939, a daughter to the late Leonard and Margaret (Hammonds) Moore. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Fred Craft Jr., whom she married April 19, 1973.

Mrs. Craft was a 1957 graduate of South Point High School and was a former cashier for King’s Daughters Medical Center, retiring in 2003. Mrs. Craft enjoyed listening to gospel music and loved cooking for her family and spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by daughter, Lanetta Jean Porter; son, Samuel Lewis Smith; three brothers, Harold Moore, Alden Moore and Eddie Moore; and two sisters, Patty Taylor and Betty Mays

She is survived by two daughters, Victoria (Duane) Taylor, of South Point and Peggy (Danny) Thacker, of Texas; son, Larry (Heather) Smith, of Flatwoods, Kentucky; sister, Rita Smith, of South Point; brother, Jerry (Ann) Moore, of South Point; 16 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be noon Tuesday at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, Ironton, with the Rev. Randy Tate officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until time of the service at the funeral home.

 

Donald Malone

March 15, 1958 — March 22, 2016

Donald Ray Malone, 58, of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2016, in Wheelersburg. The Ironton native was born March 15, 1958, a son of the late Joseph H. Malone and Mary Inez (Campbell) Malone, of Ironton.

Mr. Malone attended Rock High Schools. Donald was self-employed. He was of the Baptist faith and attended Cannons Creek E.U.B. Church in Pedro.

In addition to his mother, Donald is survived by a sister, Kathy J. (Randy) Kelley, of Ironton; a brother, Randall (Michelle) S. Malone, of Pedro; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, Donald was preceded in death by a brother, Keith J. Malone.

Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with pastor Dale Knipp officiating. Visitation will also be Wednesday from 5 p.m. until the time of the service.

William Hughes Jr.

July 14, 1932 — March 24, 2016

William E. Hughes Jr., 83, of South Point, passed away Thursday, March 24, 2016. The Coal Grove native was born Nov. 23, 1932, a son of the late William E. Hughes Sr. and Edith Fletcher Hughes. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Walker Hughes, who passed away July 14, 2011.

Mr. Hughes was a graduate of Dawson Bryant High School and a former plant foreman at Allied Chemical, where he worked for 40 years. He was also a United States Army Veteran, where he served in the 101st Airborne.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Jan Alice Hughes.

He is survived by a daughter, Brenda (Terry) Gullett, of Ashland, Kentucky; a stepson, Steven (Angie) Walker, of South Point; two grandchildren, Garret (Jessica) Gullett, of Columbus and Clayton Gullett, of Ashland, Kentucky; four step-grandchildren, Kasey Bocook, of Willow Wood, Degan Walker, of South Point, Cody Walker, of South Point and Alex Walker, of South Point; and one great-grandchild, Aiden Gullett, of Columbus.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. Wednesday until the time of service at Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, Ironton, with the Rev. Frank Hulett officiating. Burial will follow at a later date. Hilda Nelson

Nov. 10, 1943 — March 25, 2016

Hilda Faye Nelson, 72, of Kitts Hill, went to be with the Lord, Friday, March 25, 2016, at her residence. The Ironton native was born Nov.10, 1943, the daughter of the late Jesse Nance and Virtie Higgins Nance.

Mrs. Nelson was a graduate of Waterloo High School and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was an electrical assembler at Liebert Corporation in Ironton for 10 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jefferson Davis Nelson, who passed away on Aug. 8, 1988; and three sisters, Helen (George) Oliver, Emma Jean (Tommy) Bradley and Cora Bailey.

She is survived by three sons, Roger (Kennisha) Nelson, of Kitts Hill, Randy (Fern) Nelson, of Wayne, West Virginia, and Ronnie (Peggy) Nelson, of Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee; two sisters, Christine Ferris, of Willow Wood, and Margaret Shuff, of South Point; one brother, Jesse Nance, of Ironton; one sister-in-law, Irene Johnson, of Springfield; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
