SOUTH POINT — The South Point Lady Pointers’ offense was a big hit.

South Point out-hit the Gallipolis Blue Angels 15-7 on Monday to give the Lady Pointers a 7-1 Ohio Valley Conference win.

“We had a good defensive effort and we took advantage of some of their errors,” said Lady Pointers’ coach Tanner Heaberlin.

“Abby Hannah pitched really well and Haley Rawlins came through for us with her bat. Laken Adkins and Emilee Powell are starting to find their swing as well.”

The Lady Pointers’ offense was led by Emilee Powell who went 3-for-4. Laken Adkins 2-3 while Haley Rawlins, Keiana Conwell and Abby Hannah were 2-4.

Hannah had a double and Conwell got two runs batted in.

Hannah went the distance to get the win. She struck out three and did not walk a batter.

Gallipolis (3-1, 1-1) got a run in the top of second on a double by Kimberly Edelman and a single by Ryliegh Caldwell.

The Lady Pointers tied the game in the bottom of the inning on hits by Hannah, Adkins and Leah Lawson.

South Point (3-2, 2-0) took the lead with three runs in the third.

Powell and Rawlins singled and Conwell reached on an error. Hannah’s double scored two and Adkins had an RBI single.

The Lady Pointers got their final three runs in the fourth.

Jamishua Anderson was safe on an error and moved up on a wild pitch. Powell put down a sacrifice bunt and Rawlins had an RBI single.

Conwell reached on an error for a run and Hannah singled home the final run.

Gallipolis pitcher Hunter Copley struck out four, did not walk a batter and only one run was earned.

South Point hosts Rock Hill at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
