LUCASVILLE — A South Point man has been jailed on drug charges, after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers said he was caught with $18,000 worth of Oxycondone pills during a traffic stop in Scioto County.

Troopers said they pulled over Jefferey D. Wells, 54, near milepost 10 on U.S. 23 near Lucasville for a following too closely violation at 1:58 p.m. on Tuesday.

Criminal indicators were observed and a patrol drug-sniffing canine alerted to the vehicle, troopers said, and a probable cause search allegedly revealed 600 Oxycodone pills concealed inside a paint can.
