Wade’s one-hitter leads Pointers to win over Huntington St. Joe

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Logan Wade was in a shut down mode.

Wade pitched a one-hitter as he shut down the Huntington St. Joseph Fighting Irish 10-0 in six innings on Tuesday.

Wade struck out six and walked two as he got the complete game win. The only hit he allowed a two-out single by John Hankins in the bottom of the sixth inning.

South Point had 10 hits with Travis Dillon going 2-2, Douglas Shaffer 2-3 and Brycen McCann 2-4.

The Pointers erupted for eight runs in the second inning.

Dillon Tanner Hall, Christian Pritchard, McCann and Jonathan Henline all singled, Wade reached on an error, Shaffer hit a sacrifice fly and Chris Woodard hit a three-run triple.

Dillon’s RBI single capped the rally.

The final two runs scored in the sixth to set up the mercy rule win.

Dillon, Hall and McClure all walked, Shaffer was hit by a pitch and Wade and Henline reached on errors.

South Point visits Coal Grove on Wednesday for an Ohio Valley Conference game.
