The WWE isn’t the only ones with tag teams.

Garrett Carrico and Cody Rawlins combined on a six-hitter and Ironton made a seven-run first inning stand up as the Fighting Tigers beat the Rock Hill Redmen 7-3 on Wednesday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

Carrico went five innings striking out three and walking three. Rawlins worked two innings and had a strikeout.

“Carrico was not in top form, but he pitched well enough to win. Rawlins pitched two strong innings in relief,” said Ironton coach Larry Goodwin.

“Other than the first inning it was an uneventful game. Both teams played well the remaining six innings.”

Rock Hill (6-4, 2-4) took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning.

Jake Blagg was hit by a pitch, Sean McFann and Cody Lewis singled and Kaleb Kidd had an RBI double.

But Ironton answered with seven runs in the bottom of the inning.

Dane Wilson singled, Jake Isaac walked and Carrico had an RBI single. A wild pitch scored Isaac.

Hunter Klaiber and Kyle Kleinman singled to drive in another run, Ethan Duncan reached on an error and Rawlins drilled a two-run triple. Bryce Thomas capped the rally with a sacrifice fly.

Rock Hill added a run in the fifth on a walk to McFann and singles by Brandon Schob and Lewis.

On Friday, Ironton visits Portsmouth and Rock Hill goes to Symmes Valley.
