Fighting Tigers’ tennis team breezes by Clay

The Ironton Fighting Tigers tennis team improved to 5-3 on the season with a 4-1 win over the Portsmouth Clay Panthers on Wednesday.

Iornton’s No. 1 singles player Mitchell Weisgarber fell but No. 2 Cory Rawlins and No. 3 Andrew McCown both got wins.

Both doubles teams for Ironton were victorious as No. 1 Trevin Dutey and Jaxson Pleasant won in straight sets while the No. 2 team of Brock Midkiff-Sands and Elena Wilson won in three sets.

Ironton hosts Jackson on Friday and visits Portsmouth Clay on Monday.
