Catherine Poynor

Feb. 22, 1928 — April 19, 2016

Catherine M. Poynor, 88, of Ironton, passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at Jo-Lin Health Center. The Lawrence County native was born Feb. 22, 1928, the daughter of the late Leonard Sites and Gladys Brammer Sites.

Mrs. Poynor attended Coal Grove Schools and was a member of the Coal Grove Church of the Nazarene. She was the former owner and operator of Hetty’s Lunch in Coal Grove for many years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward Poynor; a daughter, Linda Lucille Sites; a brother, Frank Sites; two brothers-in-law, Jack Webb and Curt Arbaugh; and two sisters-in-law, Emily Gray and Martha Sites.

She is survived by a daughter, Carol Poynor, of Ironton; a grandson, Nick (Courtney) Poynor, of Kitts Hill; two great-granddaughters, Veronica and Katelyn Poynor; three sisters, Sally Webb, of Coal Grove, Jean Arbaugh, of Ironton, and Susie (Rufus) Johnson of Coal Grove; three brothers, Clarence (Eva) Sites, of Ironton, Roy Sites, of Ironton, and George (Brenda) Sites, of Boliver; also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

Charles Fisher

Dec. 15, 1938 — April 20, 2016

Charles Franklin Fisher, 77, of Grove City, passed peacefully on Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at Kobacker House in Columbus. The Ironton native was born Dec. 15, 1938, the only child of Frank and Pauline McKnight Fisher, both deceased.

He and his loving wife of 55 years, the former Linda Kimble, resided in Grove City and for the past several years spent the winter months in Tavares, Florida. He will be sadly missed by his loving daughter, and son-in-law, Vickie (Kemlyn) Yowell and his loving son, Chris (Sandy Snyder) Fisher. Also surviving are three granddaughters, who were the joy of his life, Carly Yowell, Grace and Abby Fisher. He enjoyed any reason to celebrate life with his family. Other survivors are sister-in-law, Catherine Chatfield, Ironton; brother-in-law, Art (Patricia) Kimble, Loveland, Colorado; and several nieces and nephews.

He graduated from Ironton High School in 1958 and was a member of Grove City United Methodist Church and Grove City Masonic Lodge 169 F&AM. He enjoyed and took pride in his career as an independent truck owner/operator. He spent his spare time “tinkering” with antique and classic cars. Saturdays were often spent at a car show. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Calling hours will be at the Spence-Miller Funeral Home, 2697 Columbus St. Grove City, beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday with funeral service at noon with pastor Tom Wilson officiating. Masonic services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be immediately following the service at the Grove City Cemetery.

Harry Hayes

Harry Pete Hayes, 80, of Proctorville died Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at home. He is survived by his wife, Rachel Hayes. Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville. Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery, Proctorville. Robin Carte

Robin Carte, 63, of Deering, formerly of Huntington, died Tuesday April 19, 2016, at home. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with pastor Trent Carpenter officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Donald Eastham

Feb. 15, 1953—April 17, 2016

Donald William Eastham, 63, of Ironton passed away Sunday, April 17, 2016, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. The Ironton native was born Feb. 15, 1953, a son of the late George Edward Eastham and Betty Addis Smith.

Donald was a United States Air Force veteran.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sue Bare Westfall. He is survived by two daughters, Joanna Eastham, of Westminster, Colorado and Jodi Eastham, of Lakewood, Washington; a son, Cody Eastham, of Ironton; a grandson: Kyle Davoren, of Littleton, Colorado; and a half brother, Paul Kelly, of Ironton.

Charles Michael Vanover, 61, of Huntington, died Tuesday, April 19, 2016, in St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington. Arrangements are pending at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville.
