PORTSMOUTH — The Chesapeake Panthers’ offense has been struggling lately.
Well, until Thursday.
The Panthers exploded for 18 hits as they outscored the Portsmouth Trojans 15-12 in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
“I was just glad we were able to hit,” said Panthers’ coach Justin Davis.
Chesapeake (6-6, 5-5) was led by Kobe McWhorter who went 5-for-5 with two doubles and Kolton Webb who was 4-5 with a double and a triple.
Casey McComas was 3-5 with two doubles and an outstanding running catch. Josh Hansen was 2-4, Austin Browning 2-5 and Dakota Blankenship 1-2 with a pair of sacrifice flies.
Zach Delotell was 3-4 and Mikey Potts 3-5 to lead Portsmouth’s 15-hit attack.
Chesapeake jumped out to a 6-0 in the top of the first inning. Webb had an RBI triple to spark the uprising.
Chesapeake visits Ironton on Monday.
