Blue Angels top Lady Panthers

GALLIPOLIS — In a game that went back and forth, Gallipolis was able to go forth just a little more.

The Blue Angels managed to outscore the Chesapeake Lady Panthers 9-5 on Wednesday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

Gallipolis went up 2-0 in the second when Jenna Meadows walked, Shelby Long singled, Kimberly Edelman was hit by a pitch and Hunter Copley singled for two RBIs.

Chesapeake tied the game in the third as Sydney Wellman walked, Laura Rice sacrificed the runner, Ryleigh Swann had an RBI single, Brooke Webb reached on an error and Melanie Noble singled.

But the Blue Angels scored five times in the bottom of the inning.

Allie Jo Clagg, Allie Young and Meadows all singled. Paxton Roberts hit into a fielder’s choice, Long reached on an error, Edelmann singled, Carly Shriver had a sacrifice fly and Copley and MaKenzie Barr both singled.

The lady Panthers scored three in the fourth when Rice and Huff walked, Swann was hit by a pitch, Swann was hit by a pitch, Webb singled in a run and Noble singled for two runs.

Gallipolis got a run in the fifth on a single by Edelmann, a double by Shriver and a hit by Barr.

The final run came in the sixth on a single by Young and Meadows’ RBI double.

Noble was 2-4 with two RBIs as the Lady Panthers had just five hits.

Chesapeake hosts Fairland on Friday.
