PEDRO — It wasn’t a wild game, but it was a wild finish.

The Rock Hill Redwomen used a wild pitch to score the winning run as they edged the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers 3-2 on Friday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

In the eighth, Jenna Lane singled with one out, went to second on Jill Hairston’s sacrifice bunt, took third on a passed ball and score on a wild pitch.

Hairston got the win as she struck out two, walked none and gave up six hits.

Aley Carmon took the loss as she pitched a five-hitter, struck out five and did not walk a batter.

“Aley Carmon pitched her best game of the year. Rock Hill is an excellent hitting team. When you limit them to five hits, you are doing something right,” said Ironton coach Missy Fields.

“I am proud of my girls ‘want to’ tonight. They played with heart.”

Rock Hill snapped a scoreless tie with a run in the bottom of the fourth.

With two outs Makenzi Harrah singled, Riann Keating reached on an error and Lily McGinnis had an RBI single.

The Redwomen got a run in the sixth with another two-out rally as Harrah singled and Keating doubled.

Ironton tied the game with two runs in the seventh.

With one out, Kenzie Cremeens singled and Carmon doubled. Ruthie Paholsky grounded out to score Cremeens and Shay Cox had a clutch game-tying RBI single.

Cremeens was 2-3 for Ironton and Harrah 2-3 for Rock Hill.

On Monday, Ironton hosts Portsmouth and Rock Hill entertains Gallipolis.
