Seniors shine as Bobcats romp

FRANKLIN FURNACE — Now this was a real Senior Night.

The Green Bobcats’ four seniors celebrated Senior Night with a 15-1 five-inning Southern Ohio Conference win over the Western Indians on Friday.

Josh Karshner got the win and went 2-2 to lead the seniors. Tyler Johnson was 1-2 with a double and three runs batted in, Hunter Lewis was 1-2 with a triple and Andy Chavarria was 1-3 with an RBI.

“All our seniors contributed. We have four seniors and they all came through. It was a good night for them,” said Green coach Dan McDavid.

Green scored seven runs in the first inning.

Tanner Kimbler, Rylee Maynard, Tayte Carver and Trevor Carver all had RBI singles and Johnson cleared the bases with a three-run double.

The Bobcats scored seven more runs in the second inning to lead 14-0.

Karshner, Trever Carver and Hayden Whitis all singled or a run and Lewis belted a two-run triple. Chavarria singled for a run, Maynard grounded out for an RBI and Tayte and Trevor Carver followed with RBI singles.

The final run scored in the third when Johnson walked and came home on a hit by Kimbler.

Karshner and Trevor Carver combined on a one-hitter. Karshner struck out nine, walked two and gave up the hit in four innings.

Kimbler was 4-4, Trevor Carver 3-3 and Tayte Carver 2-3 as Green had 16 hits.

Green visits Western on Monday and Portsmouth Notre Dame on Tuesday.
