WILLOW WOOD — My how time flies when you’re having fun.
The Symmes Valley Vikings only had the ball for 12 minutes in Friday’s game but used big plays to help roll past the Manchester Greyhounds 54-6.
Interior linemen Ethan Stapleton, Ian McCleese, Louis Bell, Brock Carpenter, Austin Mannon and Jeb Morris along with ends Sam Angelo, Keifer Wilson and Derik Brace.
“We had huge holes up front. Hands down that was the best our offensive line has played all year. We really grew as a team tonight,” said Vikings’ coach Rusty Webb.
The Vikings (2-6) scored in a variety of ways including two defensive touchdowns.
“Our kids did and outstanding job taking control early. They took control of the line of scrimmage and played well in all three phases of the game,” said Webb.
“When you get defensive scores and had a good kicking game, you’re doing an outstanding job and our kids did an outstanding job tonight.”
Jarod Sheppard ran 9 yards for a touchdown with 8:10 left in the first quarter and Evan Holmes’ conversion kick put the Vikings up 7-0.
Jordan Lucas an Sheppard hooked up on a 30-yard touchdown pass at the 3:56 mark and the lead was 14-0.

Manchester was pinned back at its own 15 and had a bad snap on its first play. Cade pounced on the ball in the end zone for a touchdown and it was 40-0 at the half.
Cade returned the second half kickoff 54 yards and set up a 16-yard Hayes touchdown jaunt as the Vikings opened up a 47-0 lead.

The defense got its second score when Holmes intercepted a pass and returned it 17 yards for a touchdown with 9:29 left in the third quarter. Holmes added the conversion kick for a 54-0 lead.
