COAL GROVE — Events are scheduled for today to help raise funds to pay for funeral expenses for Chesapeake Officer Aaron Christian.

South Point Police Sgt. Lenny Abrams said a Guns & Hoses tournament and children’s pageant are set for 1-5 p.m. at Coal Grove Little League fields.

He said all proceeds would go to paying for the funeral and helping the family. Events held earlier this month, such as the Thin Blue Line Block Party and others had raised funds for Christian’s medical expenses, which he said would be transferred to the effort.

He said Riverside Recovery Services, who sponsored a 5K run last week, will take the money they raised and use it to establish a trust fund for Christian’s daughter, Alaina.
