FORT HAYES, W.Va. — It’s been a long, tough week and Saturday’s game was the exclamation point in the week.
Playing four games in six days, the Lady Pointers rallied from a first quarter deficit to beat the Tolsia Lady Rebels 62-45 to complete the week with a 3-1 record.
“It was a hard-fought game. We fell behind early but fought back and we were able to put the game away in the fourth quarter,” said South Point coach Dave Adams.
“Tolsia is always a well-coached team and hard to beat at home.”
Emilee Whitt went deep four times with 3-pointers and scored 16 points to lead the Lady Pointers (14-8). Brooklyn Badgett scored 15 points and Leah Lawson added 10 points.
Ashley Perkey hauled down 10 rebounds for South Point.
Taylor Parsley scored 20 points for Tolsia (11-10).
Parsley scored eight points and Tasha Nichols had four points to give Tolsia a 14-12 first quarter lead.
Seven different players scored in the second quarter — Lawson had five points and Badgett four — as South Point battled back to take a 31-25 lead.
Tolsia got within 42-37 as Mariah Finley had five points including a 3-pointer while Parsley added four points. Badgett had five points and Madison Kearns hit a 3-point in the quarter for South Point.
Whitt took over in the fourth quarter as she drained three 3-pointers and scored 11 points while Badgett also hit a triple and scored five points as South Point outscored Tolisa 20-8.
South Point plays in the Division III sectional at Rock Hill on Saturday against Minford at 2:45 p.m.
