PROCTORVILLE — The Fairland Dragons not only made it back-to-back Ohio Valley Conference titles, they did it without a league loss.
Fairland beat the Chesapeake Panthers 60-26 on Friday to finish the regular season 20-1 and go 14-0 in the OVC for the second straight year.
Isaiah Howell had 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Dragons who are ranked No. 3 in the Associated Press Division III poll.
Luke Thomas added 10 points, Keedrick Cunningham had 11 points, four assists and three steals off the bench, Gunner Short had five rebounds and Ty Staten had eight points, four assists and three steals.
Chesapeake (4-17, 3-11) got eight points from Cole Mills — all in the second half.
Fairland jumped out to a 19-4 first quarter lead as Howell scored seven points and Short got five of his seven points.
The lead grew to 34-11 at the half as Cunningham, Thomas and Howell combined for 13 of Fairland’s 15 points.
Kollin Van Horn, Cunningham, Howell and Staten scored four points each in the third quarter and the Dragons opened up a 53-19 cushion.
Both teams will now play in the Div. III sectional tournament at Jackson. Chesapeake plays Ironton at 6:15 on Tuesday and Fairland goes against the winner of Coal Grove and Nelsonville-York at 6 p.m. Friday.
