Nine area players named to AP All-Ohio basketball team

Baseball doesn’t have a starting nine with this kind of talent.
Nine area girls were named to the Associated Press All-Ohio teams in Division III and Division IV.
Named to the Division III All-Ohio special mention list were Ironton freshman sensation Lexie Arden and Fairland Lady Dragons junior sharp-shooting guard Emily Chapman.
On the All-Ohio honorable mention lists were three-time All-Ohio selection Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers’ senior guard Sydney Webb, Fairland junior guard Allie Marshall, South Point Lady Pointers four-year starting point guard Brooklyn Badgett, Chesapeake Lady Panthers do-it-all guard Natalee Hall and Coal Grove Lady Hornets skillful junior Emily Compliment.
The two local players named to the Division IV All-Ohio team were Symmes Valley Lady Vikings junior center Jensyn Shepherd who was special mention and Green Lady Bobcats 1,000-point scorer and four-year starter Kaylynn Blizzard who was honorable mention.
The 5-foot-5 Chapman led Fairland to a sixth straight 20-win season as she average 16 points a game including 45 percent shooting from the 3-point line.
The 5-11 Arden averaged 13.8 points, 7.6 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 3.9 steals and 3.4 blocks a game.
The 5-7 Webb averaged 12.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 3.0 steals a game.
The 5-4 Badgett has 10.1 points, 3.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.0 steals per contest.
Hall — a 5-5 guard — led the team with 16.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 3.0 steals per outing.
The 5-9 Compliment averaged 16 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists
A defensive stopper, the 6-foot Marshall averaged 7.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.8 steals and shot 35 percent from 3-point range.
In Div. IV, the 5-11 Shepherd averaged 17.3 points and 9.2 rebounds and 2.1 blocks a game.
The 5-8 Blizzard averaged 16 points a game and was the team’s leading scorer all four years.
