PEDRO — The South Point Pointers brought out the lumber.
Playing in the Rock Hill Wooden Bat Classic, the Pointers clubbed 14 hits en and scored 15 runs in the first inning en route to an 18-4 win over the Green Bobcats on Tuesday.
South Point (4-0) was led by Tanner Hall who was 2-3 with two doubles and three runs batted in.
Douglas Shaffer was 2-3 with an RBI, Logan Wade 2-4 with a double and two RBI and Travis Dillon 2-3 and two RBI.
Green (2-1) had four hits with Tayte Carver going 2-3 with an RBI.
In the wild first inning, Shaffer singled, Brody Blackwell walked, and Hall was safe when he squeezed home a run.
Jonathan Henline, Dillon  and Beau Taylor all singled, Drake McClure was hit by a pitch, Drew Smith and Shaffer both walked to force in runs, Blackwell singled, Wade and Hall both doubled, Henline was hit by a pitch, Dillon singled, Taylor was hit by a pitch and McClure singled.
An error allowed the final run to score.
Green didn’t roll over and quit. The Bobcats scored four times in the bottom of the inning.
Tanner Kimbler, Tyler Darnell reached on a fielder’s choice and Carver singled for a run. Hayden Whitis walked, Drew Ramey hit a sacrifice fly, a run scored on a passed ball and another run scored on a wild pitch.
The Pointers got a run in the second when Hall doubled and Dillon reached on a two-out error.
A run scored in the fifth as Ben Walls singled, Henline was hit by a pitch and Dillon singled.
The final runs scored in the fifth on a hit by Elijah Adams after Shaffer was hit by a pitch and Blackwell reached on a fielder’s choice.
Shaffer went 4.1 innings for the win. He struck out seven, gave up two hits and did not walk a batter.
South Point hosts Chesapeake on Friday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
Green entertains Symmes Valley on Wednesday and visits the Vikings on Thursday in Southern Ohio Conference games.
