Wade hurls 1-hitter as Pointers win

CHESAPEAKE — Logan Wade was in control.
Wade struck out 13 as he pitched a one-hitter to lead the South Point Pointers to a 9-0 win over the Chesapeake Panthers in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Monday.
South Point had 10 hits — all singles — with Tanner Hall going 3-5, Wade 2-4 with four RBI and Drew Smith was 2-2.
Dalton Nida singled with two outs in the first inning for the Panthers’ only hit.
The game was scoreless until South Point erupted for six runs in the fourth inning.
Jonathan Henline was hit by a pitch, Max Tabor singled and then Logan Rose, Smith and Hall followed with base hits.
Brody Blackwell walked, Wade singled and Henline was safe on an error.
The Pointers (9-4) got two runs in the sixth inning when Smith, Hall and Wade singled and Henline walked.
The final run scored in the seventh on a hit by Colton Napier, walks to Smith and Wade and Henline was hit by a pitch.
On Wednesday, South Point hosts Gallipolis and Chesapeake entertains Rock Hill.
