‘Lucky’ Redwomen rout Lady Pointers

SOUTH POINT — So 13 is an unlucky number? Don’t tell the Rock Hill Redwomen.
Rock Hill had 13 hits and scored 13 runs in a 13-5 Ohio Valley Conference win over the South Point Lady Pointers on Thursday.
Rock Hill was led by Kelsey Olderham who was 2-4 with two doubles and four runs batted in and Gracie Stevens who went 3-5 with two RBI.
Anna Darby also went 3-5 with an RBI, Rileigh Morris was 2-5 with a double and Baylie Harrah had a double and three RBI.
South Point had eight hits as Hannah Roberts was 2-3 and Leah Lawson drove in three runs.
Rock Hill (10-5, 7-3) took a 2-0 lead in the first inning.
Jill Hairston, Stevens and Darby all singled for a run and Samantha Stamper grounded out to drive in a run.
The lead went to 3-0 in the second when Madison Harper got a leadoff walk and Olderham doubled her home.
Stevens singled, Stamper reached on an error and Harrah had an RBI single as Rock Hill got a run in the third.
South Point got two runs in the fourth when Hannah and Holly Ramey scored on errors.
The Redwomen had six errors.
Rock Hill got the two runs back in the fifth when Darby singled, Stamper reached on an error, Harrah had an RBI double and Harper his a sacrifice fly.
The Lady Pointers got three more unearned runs in the bottom of the inning.
Sophie Morris reached on an error, Adkins singled and Lawson had a two-out, three-run singles.
But Rock Hill then erupted for seven runs in the sixth to put the game away.
Olderham reached on an error, Morris doubled and Stevens had a two-run single. Darby was safe on an error, Stamper walked, Harper was safe on an error, Hall hit an RBI single and Olderham cleared the bases with a three-run double.
Hairston got the win as she struck out five and did not walk a batter.
On Monday, Rock Hill visits Fairland and South Point hosts Portsmouth.
