COAL GROVE — A good start for the Coal Grove Lady Hornets but a better finish for the Gallipolis Blue Angels.

Gallipolis rallied for seven runs over the final three innings to beat the Lady Hornets 9-3 on Tuesday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

Each team scored two runs in the first inning.

Alex Barnes and Jenna Meadows singled and an outfield error scored Barnes. Bailey Meadows then singled home a run for Gallipolis.

In Coal Grove’s first, Lauren Meyer walked, Gracie Riley sacrificed her to third and Kasey Murphy beat out a bunt hit to score Meyer. Lauren Crum then singled in Murphy.

Coal Grove got a run in the third to lead 3-2 when Murphy doubled and Crum singled.

But Gallipolis got three runs in the fifth to go up 5-3.

Hunter Copley doubled, Barnes singled and Jenna Meadows had a two-run double. Bailey Meadows then singled in the third run.

The Blue Angels scored four runs in the seventh.

Copley and Barnes singled and a throwing error scored a run. Bailey Meadows singled in a run, Ryleigh Caldwell singled, Kimberly Edelmann walked and Carly Shriver had a two-run single.

Copley got the win as she struck out seven, walked one and gave up seven hits. She also went 2-5 with a double.

Barnes was 3-4 with an RBI, Jenna Meadows 2-4 with a double and two RBI, and Bailey Meadows 3-4 and two RBI.

Murphy went 2-3 with a double and Crum 2-3 with two RBI to pace the Lady Hornets.

Coal Grove played Fairland on Wednesday and hosts South Point on Friday.
